Our Mission
Ethics, Accessibility and Integrity in the West
The Missoko Bwiti Alliance exists to bring the Missoko Bwiti tradition into the West in a way that is accurate, ethical, and in right relationship with its origins.
Our focus is simple: to make authentic Iboga work accessible without altering its foundation. This means translating the tradition into a Western context while maintaining the structure, principles, and integrity it was built upon—without adding to it or taking away from it.
Missoko Bwiti Alliance Mission
A Bridge Between Traditions
Missoko Bwiti is a living tradition rooted in Gabon, carried through generations of direct experience and transmission.
Bringing this work into the West requires care. Cultural differences, expectations, and environments must be accounted for—but not at the expense of the tradition itself.
Our Alliance exists to bridge this gap and to create understanding without distortion.
To offer access without compromise.
STANDARDS
Raising the Standard
As Iboga becomes more widely known, the need for clear standards becomes essential. Our mission is to raise the bar for how this work is practiced in the West by establishing and upholding:
Ethical and quality guidelines for providers and retreat centers
Clear safety protocols and screening practices
Culturally accurate education and preparation
Accountability in how the work is represented and delivered
“Iboga and the Missoko Bwiti tradition is not something to take lightly. It’s about applying the tradition well, and applying it responsibly—staying aligned with the lineage, honoring its origins, and raising the standard for how it’s carried in the West.”

Rooted in Relationship
Everything we offer is grounded in direct relationship with the source of the tradition.
We work closely with our village in Gabon to ensure that what is being shared remains aligned with its origins. This connection allows us to carry the work forward with accuracy, while supporting and honoring the lineage it comes from.
Through this relationship, we are able to offer a level of quality, consistency, and authenticity that reflects the highest standard available outside of Gabon.
Reciprocity
Reciprocity is central to this work. We maintain direct support for our village in Gabon—contributing to the preservation of the tradition, the well-being of its practitioners, and the continuation of Missoko Bwiti at its source.
“Reciprocity, to us, is not an exchange. It's a relationship — one that runs deeper than the material, deeper than partnership (though that term comes closest in description). We share a path. To live the Bwiti tradition. To carry it forward. And everything we do traces back to the village, to our roots.”
